This is an ecclectic blog covering a variety of topics: Space, Space Art, Liturgical art, Social justice issues, tidbits about Nevada, occasional humor and previews of new art pieces I have created.

Julie Rodriguez Jones' "Supernova Remnant"
Not knowing where to start, I took some photos of the kitchen area and posted some art to my Facebook page for comments. I changed the image immediately above to beiges and reddish browns to match the oak cabinets and the beige tiles. Folks commented and it was decided to do the following only I didn't quite know where to start concerning making tiles.

Facebook was a great place to start and my friend and art colleague Joy Day of Spherical Magic came to the rescue and said that she did glass tiles! (She does everything else so I don't know why I didn't think of this!) I called tiling installers to get bids and ideas and we are currently making the final decision. The tiles will be 8x8 and I will size the art to accommodate the needs of the 12 tiles which will make up the art. We will probably avoid as much grout as possible between the tiles to make the art look as seamless as possible. More to come when we choose a tile contractor.
The colors on our redesigned Kente clergy stole are outstanding. What a treat for the eyes. (We create our own art and print our own fabric.) This stole can be use for a wide variety of occasions from World Communion Sunday, to sermons on civil rights, ethnic celebrations or any occasion where you want beautiful color. For more details just go to THIS LINK and scroll down. (You will be at Art fro the Soul.)

Around here getting color in summer sunrises and sunsets is pretty rare. Today we had just a touch of color and it only lasted about two minutes, still it was pretty. We are in Spanish Springs, 12 miles north of Sparks, NV on Pyramid highway (445), about half way to Pyramid Lake. Enjoy.
